!IMMIGRATION-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN: E-mail posting on ACADIAN-CAJUN-L@rootsweb.com> on 14 Aug 1998 by Bud DORR (Budd@ime.net), quoting from Stephen WHITE. Jean POIRIER, a sailor ("matelot"), arrived in Acadia in 1641 on the ship "Saint Francois." He probably married Jeanne CHEBRAT around 1647; son Michel born at Port Royal around 1650. Michel married around 1673 to Marie BOUDROT.

!BIRTH-IMMIGRATION-MARRIAGE-CHILDREN-DEATH: Arsenault, H&G, p. 729 (Port Royal). Je'han POIRIER, born in 1626, he arrived in Acadia around 1649, but married in 1648. Without doubt he made part of a group come from France hired to work for the fishing business of Nicolas DENYS at Cap-Breton. His widow married Antoine GOUGEON in 1656.

!IMMIGRATION: Came to Acadia about 1636 with his brother-in-law Guillaume BLANCHARD & wife Huguette POIRIER. Where found this?

!DEATH: Died before the 1671 census, when his son Michel was listed at age 20 as "garson, fils de deffunct Jehan POIRIE'." Jehan's widow remarried in 1656.
