19 Feb - 03 Mar 1799: Frenchmen from the ship Le Grande Beonaparie siezed the Duff and the men were taken to Montevideo where the Duff was sold. Wives & children again united and they returned to England. (From his brother Peter's memoirs)

John married to Sarah and had a child christened in a church in Surrey - This ties up with the Missionary Chronicle where a Levesque (missionary) was ordained in Surrey chapel. "on the 10th of November four of the missionaries, Messrs. Gregory, Hill, Levesque, and Vardy, were ordained in Surrey chapel"
