Private Jasper Hallenbeck enlisted as a private in Company C of the 81st New York Infantry (also known as the "2nd Oswego Regiment" or "Mohawk Rangers") of the Union Army on October 23, 1861 at Ohio, New York. SERVICE.--Duty at Kalorama Heights, Defenses of Washington, D.C., March 7-13, 1862. Moved to the Peninsula, Va., March 28. Siege of Yorktown April 5-May 4. Reconnaissance toward Lee's Mills April 29. Battle of Williamsburg May 5 Distinguished Service: DISTINGUISHED SERVICE Service Record: In 1862 and 1866, widow and minor penion papers were filed for Jasper Hallenbeck of Co. C., 81st Inf. the widow's name was Elizabeth Hallenbeck and the minor's name was E. C. Davenport, "Gdn." The widow filed in 1862 and the minor filed in 1866.
