"He was the famous Jason Russell, an invalid and noncombatant, who was barbarously butchered in his own house here by the British troops on their retreat from Lexington and Concord on the 19th of April, 1775. He had refused to flee, exclaiming, an 'Englishman's house is his castle'. He was shot with two bullets, and eleven bayonet stabs were found on his body."
