Jared R. STILLMAN, died at the home of his father, S. H. Stillman, near Nortonville, Tuesday, Nov. 14, 1893.
Notwithstanding his prolonged illness of five weeks, the community was not prepared for this unwelcomed news.
He was born in West Hallock, Ill., in 1869 and was therefore but 24 years of age. He came with his parents to Kansas in 1884. He professed religion at the age of 14 and was a member of the S.D.B. church of this place. He was married to Miss Ida Perry in March 1891, and leaves besides his widow, two little ones to suffer from a fathers loss. His funeral was held at the S.D.B. church on Thursday, where a large concourse of people gathered to show their sympathy and sorrow. Rev. G.M. Cottrell preached from Jer. 21:13 and tried to administer the comforts and consolations of the promises of God's word. Seldom has such a procession of teams been witnessed at a funeral in this community, which shows the esteem in which the brother was held.
