14 Mar 1835: Deposition of Lois Smith and Elisha Ballou that Jared Ballou late of Richards was an invalid pensioner at his deceased on 3 Oct 1831 and he left a widow Hannah Ballou, who still survives as his widow.

[Note: this seems to be the source for what information is found in Source:Ballou, Adin. Elaborate History and Genealogy of the Ballous in America (329876), p. 1218, which says it was unable to trace Jared's pedigree, and on top of that it incorrectly infers he came soon after his marriage, when actually the marriage is recorded in Richmond as having occurred there. The deed where he buys the Robinson place, Vol. 46:550}, is executed in 1790, almost a decease after his marriage, and he is "of Richmond". The death record of daughter Sarah names the birthplace of both her parents as Smithfield, R.I.]
