[This parish was disjoined from Cumnock by the Commissioners for the plantation of kirks on 11th July 1650. On 14th July 1667, the Commissioners recalled this decision, and set aside the disjunction. On the 11th March 1691, however, they renewed the repealed decree of 1650, and confirmed the erection of the parish. The church of New Cumnock was rebuilt in 1832]S1
  • Hugh Craufurd, fourth son of Patrick Craufurd, of Auchenames and Jane Craufurd of Crosbie; educated at University of Glasgow; M. A. (1648); adm. Before 1653; deprived by Act of Parliament 11th June, and Secreet of Privy Council 1st Oct. 1662. He had sasine of the lands of Garrive July 1669. He became indulged min. at Riccarton in 1672, and afterwards held a charge in Ireland; returned here at the Toleration; died May 1692, aged about 64. He marr. Eupham, daughter of John Cunningham of Baidland, and widow of William Cunningham, minister of West Kilbride, and had issue. – (p. 27)S1
1. Hugh of Garrive; (p. 27), (p. 64) – Hugh Craufurd, M. A., formerly of New Cumnock; had an indulgence jointly with preceding by Privy Council 3rd Sept. 1672; was cited to appear before Privy Council 11th Aug. 1677, and his cautioners also 31st Aug. 1681. He returned to New Cumcock in 1688.S1

3. Patrick Craufurd, brother of John Craufurd of Garrive; educated at University of Edinburgh; M.A. (11th Feb. 1681); licen. By Presb. Of Irvine 12th March 1689; called 7th July and ord. 11th Nov. 1691; died June 1710, aged about 49. He married Janet Shaw, who survived him, and had issue – (p.29)S1
