James Wright was born in 1833 in Decatur, OH, probably on the family farm. In 1833 James married Melinda Bayne, daugther of Samuel Duvall Bayne and Eleanor West. They raised a family of seven children: Carey Campbell, Eleanor Elizabeth, Samuel Newton, William Cyrus, Julia Ann, John Thomas, and Margaret Emma. James moved his family to Washington Twp, Tazewell Co., IL in 1859 and farmed there. Sometime after 1880 James retired to Centerville, Appanoose Co., IA. He died there in 1883.
