1810, June - birth record derived from death record. see Note 1. Parents John B. and Elizabeth Russell.

1834 - James' father John made his Will on Dec. 3, 1834; the Will was proved January 5, 1835. Henry Richards was appointed Executor. On March 19, 1839, in the estate accounts of Henry Richards, there are three "distributees" named: James Russell, "B.F. Baker husband of Elizabeth", and "James Duval husband of Lydia". Because James Russell was not named in his father's Will, the Richards' accounting is the first record tying James to the deceased; it is reasonable to conclude that James Russell is one of the deceased's children.
