- Note that there is a Family Finder (FTDNA) match between a descendant of James Nedley Norman and a descendant of his brother, Seamore Norman.
James Nedley Norman was elected first Sheriff of Calhoun Co, (W)VA in 1856 and he then appointed two of his sons, Alpheus and Philip, as his deputies. His son said for the 1880 Census that his parents were both from Virginia.
