James C. Miller HAMDEN --Master Sgt. James C. Miller, 71, of Hamden, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at the New York State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was born Sept. 4, 1936, the son of Carlton and Violet (Irwin) Miller. A 1954 graduate of Delaware Academy, James was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force. He spent many years traveling all over the world serving his country. He was employed for 10 years at Del Met in Walton and four years at the Grand Union. He loved to garden, and was an avid fisherman and aviator. He enjoyed flying out of the Walton and DeLancey airports with his plane. He also liked to travel. He and his wife, Minnie, were part of a military traveling group called The Smarts Club. They also enjoyed membership in the Beaver Dam Club in Grahamsville, where they own a camp. James is survived by his wife of nine years, Minnie Miller, of Hamden; a son, Carl and Lorraine Miller of Albany; two daughters, Tina and Ed Whittaker of Delhi and Cheryl and Chris Adler of New Jersey; two stepsons, Donald and Donna McKee of Delhi and George and Linda McKee of Downsville; Linda and Lyle Decker of Hamden; two brothers, Gary and Donna Miller of Grahamsville and William and Judy Miller of Ellenville; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents; and two sisters, Anita Eldridge and Janette Miller. Memorial services will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2008, at the MacArthur Funeral Home, Delhi, with the Rev. Bert More officiating. Friends are invited to call beginning at 1 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family. Contributions are asked to be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
