This man is a tough nut to crack. He was enumerated in the 1870 Federal Census in Smith County, Mississippi with his first wife Emily. He appears to be the "James A. McNease" who was enumerated in the 1880 Federal Census in the 5th Ward of Washington Parish, Louisiana with an apparent second wife Tobitha, son Joseph , and mother "Celia Loften." Two sons from his first marriage, Calvin and Sidney were also enumerated in the same ward. His first wife, Emily, remained in Smith County, MS where she was enumerated in the 1900 Federal Census.
