He was 5'8", having blue eyes and red hair which early in life turned pure gray. He was of medium build with light freckled skin. He wore glasses and kept his hair neat and short with a clean shaven face. Generally he dressed in some sort of work clothes that consisted of either a work uniform or dark jeans, a dark shirt and a baseball cap which promoted Kingman Marine or some other kind of mechanical business or product. When dressed to play he preferred causal dress.
