James Sharp Hawkins was named after James Sharp, founder of Sharpsburg, PA, who was a relative on both his maternal and paternal sides. James was married three times; his first two wives both died shortly after child birth so the sons of each of these marriages were taken in by other relatives. His third wife, Mary McKim, survived him and together they had a daughter, Ellen, who grew up in New Castle, Lawrence Co, PA.
