5. James Hamilton (Benjamin, Abel, David), son of Benjamin and Experience (Walker) Hamilton, was born at Berwick, Maine, and was baptized in that town, August 19, 1756. The exact date of birth is unknown.
He settled upon the farm in Waterborough, now owned by Mrs. Benjamin Pierce Hamilton.
On April 5, 1787, at the first town meeting held in the town of Waterborough after its incorporation, at the dwelling-house of Captain John Smith, innholder, James Hamilton was chosen surveyor of highways and in 1788, he was chosen fence viewer and also tithing man.
He married, about 1778, Elizabeth Ricker, born July 27, 1757, daughter of Joshua Ricker of Alfred, Maine.
He died in June, 1795.
