Facts and Events
James Dick, Jr. appears to have stayed behind in New York while his parents and younger siblings headed west for Ashtabula. But the westward movement spirit must have grabbed him between 1850 and 1860 because we find him in Westfield, Marquette Co., WI by 1860 where he remains. It appears his daughter Mary did not survive the move (if she left at all), but his two sons are still with him in WI in the 1860 census (but not after). 1840 Census: Westfield, Chataqua Co., NY James Dick, Jr., 2 males under 5, 1 male 30-40; 1 female 10-15 (??), 1 female 20-30 (wife) living next door to an Edward Dick 1850 Census: Westfield, Chataqua Co., NY James Dick, 40, b.
