Rev. James W. Desmond Share E-mail Visit Guest Book DESMOND, Rev. James W. Rev. James Warren Desmond, 59, of Tolland, MA, formerly of Granby and West Suffield, beloved husband of Debra Ann (Dalgleish) Desmond, passed away on Thursday (October 15, 2009). Born in Hartford, son of the late James M. and Marjorie (Warren) Desmond, he grew up in Granby and lived in Rockville, Avon, Canton, and West Suffield, before moving to Tolland, MA., 10 years ago. Jim graduated from Granby Memorial High School in 1968 and from the University of Hartford with a BA Degree in 1972. He received his Master's of Divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary in 1976. He served his chaplaincy at Presbyterian Medical Center in Denver, CO and at Hartford Hospital. Jim served as associate pastor of the United Church of Christ in Canton and was a pastoral counselor. He was a member of Valley Lodge #36 A.F. & A.M. in Simsbury and a past Grand Chaplain of the Grand Lodge A.F & A.M. of Connecticut. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Jeremy Maxson Desmond and his wife Jennifer of South Windsor; two daughters, Heather Lee and her husband James Clark of Meriden, and Jamie Elizabeth and her husband Thomas Wilbert of South River, NJ; step sons, Domenic Altieri of Hartford, and Neil Altieri and his wife Michelle of Enfield; a grandson, James Redfield Desmond; a sister, Barbara and her husband Donald Antonucci of Barkhamsted; a nephew, Mark Antonucci; and a niece, Kim Walton. A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, October 18, 1 p.m., at the Second Baptist Church, 100 North Main St., Suffield. His family will receive friends on Saturday, 4-7 p.m., at the Hayes-Huling & Carmon Funeral Home, 364 Salmon Brook St., Granby.
