James Creel, of Hackley, died at his home, Wednesday, Sept. 6, 1916. He was born in Jones County, Miss., Aug. 19, 1849, making him over 67 years of age. He came to Washington Parish when a youth of 15, his parents settling on a farm, where he spent most of his life, until he moved to Hackley a few years ago. He married Emily Blackwell about 46 years ago. His aged wife, two sons, John and Wiley, and three daughters, Mary, Nancy and Cyntha, all of whom married Thomases, survive him. Also two sisters, one of which, Holly McBryant, was so attentive and devoted to him during his last illness. He joined the Lawrences' Creek Baptist church several years ago, his faith in the Master was renewed during the last few weeks of his life. Interment at the Noble's graveyeard, Rev. C. T. Corkern conducted the services.
