State of New York Chenango County James Coon being duly sworn says he is eighty years of age that he was born in Hopkinton County of Washington and State of Rhode Island on the first day of July 1767 and resided there until in year after the close of the Revolutionary War he then moved into Eastown Washington County State of New York and for the next twenty five years he has resided where he now resides in Linklean County of Chenango and State of New York. That he was acquainted with James Coon who was his Cousin from his childhood until after the Revolutionary War who was his near neighbor in Hopkinton afore said. That some time after the Declaration of Independence James Coon entered into the army of the United States he believes from his best recolection (sic) for three years or more and went into the army and served out the length of his enlistment but the name of his officers he served under he could not recolect (sic) neither can he recolect when he ___ for he went immediately away from Hopkinton and did not return there until the close of his service - and it on __ the close fo the Revolution that soon after the close of his service in the army he moved to Petersburgh (sic) State of New York and soon after married Sarah Clarke who was Cousin to deponts (sic) wife and resided there during his life. That said James Coon died about forty eight years past leaving his widow him surviving & afterwards married Jasper Crandall. That said Jasper Crandall died in De Ruyter in the adjoinging town to this depont (sic) he thinks four or five years past leaving his widow him surviving who now resides in Brookfied County of Madison and State of New York and remains a widow. That this depont (sic) is the oldest relative of said James Coon living from his best knowledge and belief and that he does not know of any of his former neighbors of Hopkington as old as deponent or who [cross out] one old enough to ___ the particulars? of James Coon ___. That from his reccolections he has not the ___ doubt that said James Coon lived as a soldier in the Revolutionary war at but three years the ___ ____ ___ before signing ___ ___ ___ this 21st day of October 1847 James Coon before me Conydon B.
