James was inventoried in Goochland, Virginia in 1731. George Alves ofNew Kent County, VA transported a James Bowling in 1700--but did JamesBowling stay in New Kent (from Ernie Perry). Is he the same JamesBolling who died 1730 and was inventoried by Stephen Hughes. Erniethinks, but can't prove that he was and that James Bowling moved withthe other Hughes to Goochland. Ashford Hughes bought 400 acres on thesouth side of James River on Bolling's Quarter Branch, and thegranches of Muddy Creek, in Goochland County. According to ErniePerry: "I'm almost certain that our Bollings came at least throughNew Kent around 1700. Why? Stephen Hughes inventoried JamesBowling's estate in 1730 [you had to be a relative or a debtor tothat] and granted he could have been a debtor, but I don't thinkso..it was Ashford Hughes he was in debt to and it was Ashford Hughesthat sold 150 acres on Muddy Cr. to Christopher Bolling for 10E inGoochland in 1743. He was in Goochland as early as September 1729 andon 25 August 1731. Asford Hughes owned 400 acres on the south side ofJames River on Bollings Quarter Branch and the branches of MuddyCreek, along with John Macou [Michaux] and Daniel Wilmore.
