Marriage Notes for Hugh Boggs and Hannah Blevins: The following information was provided by Karl Dagg (daggk@vwcom.com) and Ken Yarberry (KYarberry@aol.com) who are part of the on-line Gambill research group. 1997:

Dr. Curtis Williams of Appalachian State University states: "So many Boggs named their sons John, James, William, etc. that it became necessary to assign them distinguishing nick names. James Boggs, son of Hugh and Hannah Boggs, was called "Jim Going" because he preferred to "traipse up and down the creek" when there was work to be done as a child. He was on the go all the time. As an adult, if you wanted to talk to him, you had to follow him.

I believe that I am the source of information on James Henry Boggs andMatilda Lyons. They were my gggrandparents. James was called "Goins",because he was always "goin'" somewhere. Apparently he had an aversion towork, even though he had a large family to care for. He was a Civil Warveteran and a brother, Nelson, was killed in his presence just about 200miles from home in Lawrence County, Ky. This occured just a few monthsafter they enlisted. There is one important error in the account of the children of James andMatilda's son, Lewis Franklin Boggs, my ggrandfather. He had oneillegitimate child, a daughter, Fanny Tilson, before he married Mary E.Johnson, who was also his second cousin. Lewis and Mary had five children, three girls and two boys, including my grandfather, Harry Boggs. Harrytaught school in the one room school near Blaine, Ky., on the left fork ofCaines Creek before the family moved to Portsmouth, Oh. about 1918.

Possible death date for him, found in the obituaries at the Lawrence Co., KY library-Boggs, James H. May 21 1909
