Link to parents was long labeled tentative, because of the lack of direct evidence, but likely because Robert is the only Adams in the 1850 Todd Co, KY census with a son James of the appropriate age. The names of Robert’s descendants are similar (most particularly, it gives symmetry to his son's name, James Robert, as being named after the two grandfathers), and Jasper’s descendants intermarried with James’. In 2019, DNA results on Ancestry show matches between three descendants of James, and descendants of the siblings of the parents shown here, Robert (through siblings Mariah and Thomas) and Jane (through brother William).
On 28 May 1896, a J.B. Adams transferred all of his assets, including the inventory of a drugstore business in Elkton, to Jack M. Russell. The timing matches with a choice to retire and go live with his son.
