    "Jacob Joy3, b. possibly at Salem, ca. 1645; d. probably at Fairfield, Conn., before 29 Jan. 1690/1, when the inventory of his estate was taken there. … Letters of administration on the estate of Jacob Joy were granted to Captain Matthew Sherwood and James Bennett, Jr. [his brother-in-law] on 18 Feb. 1690/1. The inventory, taken 29 Jan. 1690/1 by Matthew Sherwood and John Osburn, was verified by the widow Elizabeth and filed 18 Feb. 1690/1. Although then a resident of Fairfield, Joy owned property at Killingworth that his widow Elizabeth sold on 22 March 1693."
