JACOB HUNKER, farmer, P O Tiffin, was born near Sulz, in the kingdom of Wu rtemburg, December 16, 1842, son of Jacob and Catharine (Smith) Hunker, w ho came to America in 1853, landing in NY, and the same year locating in C linton Twp Seneca CO OH. The father of our subject, now (1885) in his eig hty-first year, a son of Martin Hunker, lost his wife in 1854; she was a d aughter of Martin Smith, and the mother of the following children: Marti n, in Clinton Twp; Mathias, in Hopewell Twp; Jacob, our subject; Mary, wi fe of Christian Snyder, of Liberty Twp all in this CO; and Frederic k, in Buffalo CO Neb. The father's second marriage was with Mary Schantz,w ho is still living, and by her he has had one child, Annie, now the wi fe of Frederick Flaxenhair, of Liberty Twp this CO. Owing to the limit ed means of his parents our subject received but meager advantages in ear ly life. He was married, October 5, 1869, to Rosa Smith, who was born in S eneca CO OH, September 21, 1850, daughter of George and, Rosina (Dunninge r) Smith, natives of Wurtemburg, and who settled in this CO about 184 5; they are still living and are the parents of John, in Bloom Twp; Ros a, Mrs. Hunker, in Liberty Twp; Melchoir, in Pleasant Twp and Andy, in Cli nton Twp all in this

To Mr. and Mrs. Hunker have been born the following children: Jo hn F, Wm F, David M, Oliver E and Ollie M (twins), and George I Mr. Hunk er is farming 220 acres of land, and is one of the most industrious and en terprising men in Liberty Twp. He and his family are members of the Luther an Church.
