Followed Daniel Boone Pioneering area of KY, known as Kentucky County, VA. When he arrived, found many settlers, went back to mountainous section of eastern KY. Built one-room cabin in 1789 In 1800, built two-story log house which still stands and is by his descendants to this day, and is one of the oldest landmarks in KY. Was Baptist minister (not overly endowed with worldy goods) and because he could not speak English fluently, his congregation left him. Was later furnished with a pulpit by his family and with his family organized the Old Creek Run Baptist Church where he preached for many years Jacob and Mary lived to be about 100 years old and had 7 children.
