In this he gave a statement of his own military service: "Commissioned as Second Lieutenant, U.S. Army Organized Reserve Corps, June 1, 1934; retired in rank of Lieutenant Colonel, USAR, June 30, 1962. Served in European Theater of Operations, World War II. Army Service Number 0-314866."
