Corporal Barrons was a member of the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on September 2, 1950. Corporal Barrons was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Korean War Service Medal.
Jack was the seventh child in a family of fourteen children. He had seven brothers and six sisters. He grew up on a farm and his father was a railroad conductor on commerical rail road cars which had crossed Lake Michigan from other ports. Jack raised rabbits on the farm for fresh meat as well as cut firewood for his mother's kitchen stove; the main source of heat. Jack was warm, friendly, open to others and a genuinely good person. Jack was one of the children who took rsponsibility to help on the farm. I was not surprised that he became a corporal in charge of other men. I miss him. (Carol Glidden)
