Ivan StrubleApril 18, 1910-March 28, 2005 Ivan G. Struble, 94 years, 11 months and 10 days, of Castana, Iowa, died Monday, March 28, 2005, at Elmwood Care Centre, Onawa. Ivan Glen Struble was born on the family farm, near Castana, Iowa, April 18, 1910, the son of Ed and Effa (Pembrook) Struble. He attended Moore Country School near his home. He was baptized and confirmed in the Reorganized Church of Jesus Chris of Latter Day Saints. He worked on the family farm with his dad and brothers. After his parents retired and moved into Castana, he continued farming and purchased the home farm in 1951. He specialized in raising purebred Short Horn Cattle which he was very proud of. Ivan's greatest pleasure was helping Ronnie Burke for many years at the Burke Locker. He also enjoyed a good card game and after retirement enjoyed attending dog and horse races. He made his home with his sister and brother-in-law, Thelma and Eddie Miller for many years and always enjoyed the company of family and friends. He was a member of Community of Christ Church, Onawa. Survivors include a brother, Conn Struble of Lakewood, Colorado; a sister, Thelma Miller of Castana, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Ethel Struble of Onawa, Iowa and many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends who will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Edward, Lloyd (Lucille) and Warren (Leora); five sisters, Blanche (John) Polousky and (Wm. Atken), Floris (Chester) Davis, Clelia (Charles) Davis, Mildred (Alma) Amundson and Jennie (Bruce) Noftsger; a sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Struble and a brother-in-law, Edwin Miller. Funeral services were 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2005, at Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, with Sherman Struble, Elder and Melba Struble, Elder officiating. Music selections were "God Will Take Care of You", "Old, Old Path" and "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" with Nancy and Cathy Hanson, vocalists and Patsy Petersen, organist. Burial was in Jordan Cemetery, rural Soldier. Visitation was 6:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Casket bearers were Barry Erickson, Bernie Erickson, Wayne Struble, Gordon Struble, Keith Davis, Tom Calkins and Ira Struble. Honorary bearers were Harvey Hanson, Brady Hanson, Paul Petersen, Ronnie Burke, Robert Barker, Eldon Waples and Ralph Christensen. Arrangements were made under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa.
