Meadows was honorably discharged "After the Battle if [sic] Missionary Ridge, my Company went to Dalton, Ga. and from there we were mustered out, and never was with the company any more and was at home when the surrender finally came. I went out of the service in 1864 but I do not remember for sure about these dates."
