DANVILLE, Va. — Mrs.. Ione Frances Graves Nuckols, 79, of 821 Arnett Blvd, died Monday, June 12, 2000, at her home.

Born July 23, 1920, in Burlington, she was the wife of the late Mr. Jay I. Nuckols Sr., and the daughter of Mr. Ura Denton Graves Sr. and Mrs.. Flossie Shoffner Graves, both deceased. She was a member of Lighthouse Independent Methodist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Ms. Emma Jean Greeson of Whitsett and Mrs.. Julia Byrd of Danville; a sister, Ms. Elaine Graves Mann of Burlington; four brothers, Mr. Alton Graves, Mr. Marvin Graves, Mr. Earl Graves and Mr. Fred Graves, all of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Mr. Jay I. Nuckols Jr..; a sister, Ms. Rosa Lee Graves Cole; two brothers, Mr. Elmer Graves and Mr. U.D. Graves Jr..; and two grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday at Townes Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Freddie Vicks. Burial will be in Danville Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at Townes Funeral Home from 7 to 9 this evening, and at other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs.. Robert Byrd, 520 Rocky Knoll Lane, Danville.
