  2. ↑ This birth, of course, was the trigger of Clara Buckles Sliger's death. Clara died of 'puerpral fever', which is probably better known as childbed fever. Dorothy Walz, who heard the story from Clara's sister Grace Buckles Williams, was told that the baby boy was named Royal. By the gravestone in the Hartford City Cemetery, we see that name used for the boy who died in 1912. It is possible that the family re-used the name.
