He was listed in the 1800 and 1810 census of Delaware County. "A man of clear understanding and good judgment, and a great lover of books, being especially well read in ancient and modern history. While at home he assisted his father on the farm and in the mill, and subsequently purchased a farm in Stamford (NY), where he resided until his death, at 67." Member of United Presbyterian Church.
