From Regina Jackson Gerspacher: Hugh Jackson moved to Tennessee before 1812. During the War of 1812, Hugh was a private in the 2nd Regiment West Tennessee Militia. The 2nd Regiment West Tennessee Militia was with Andrew Jackson at the battle of New Orleans. According to Bob Mitchell: "Living in Stewart Co. in 1820, Gibson Co. in 1830, Madison Co. in 1840 and Gibson Co. in 1850.
