Facts and Events
Howard Brinkerhoff Slauson earned his Masters in Chemistry at the University of Illinois in Champaign. He was injured in a laboratory accident when he inhaled dangerous fumes, and decided to study law. He earned his LLD. He probably met his wife at college. Subsequently he practiced law with father-in-law, James Weston Langley. JW Langley followed his only daughter to Seattle when HB Slauson moved there. The Slauson family lived in a house on 19th avenue. Eventually HB decided working indoors was bad for him. He moved to Morgan Street and opened a greenhouse. He also bought property for greenhouses in Skyway, off Langston Lane, on the south slope of Campbell Hill. His son, Lang, built a home there, across from 71st Street. Ken remembers visiting that house as a child. James Langley Slauson later built a house with Lang at 7014 S. 129th Place, about two blocks from his childhood house. |
