Facts and Events
Hirsch Stern lived in a small town called Lutter, Germany, which was a farming community located about 25 kilometers outside of Fulda. There, Hirsch Stern rapidly achieved a reputation as being an expert on horses and an honorable trader of horses, from which he made his living and became a supplier of horses to a powerful Prince by the name of Grosse Kurfuerst (actually, a title, which translates to Great Elector). Hirsch's Hebrew Name was Naftali. He moved to Fulda and in 1855 became a citizen of Fulda. We are guessing that Jews were not citizens and they had to apply for citizenship to become one. |
