Herbert Shellenbarger, 78, route one, a retired farmer, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at Pennock hospital in Hastings. He had been in ill health for several years and hospitalized four weeks.
He was born June 29, 1881 in Odessa township, the son of Julius and Martha (Curtis) Shellenbarger, and had spent his entire life in the Lake Odessa area.
He was married April 14, 1906 to Mary McCarty, and they lived all their married life on the same farm, three miles southwest of Lake Odessa.
Mr. Shellenbarger attended the Grace Brethren church.
Surviving besides his wife, Mary, are a son, Halbert (Hap) Shellenbarger of Lake Odessa; two sisters, Mrs. Jolly (Mabel) Roush of Lake Odessa, and Mrs. Bert (Myra) Bell of Charlotte; three brothers, Syrus Shellenbarger of Tucson, Ariz., and Oscar and Orville of Lake Odessa; three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Service will be held at the Pickens funeral home Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Z. H. Beardsley and Rev. William Ernest officiating. Burial will be at Lakeside Cemetery. - ↑ Burial:
