    Henry Spring, m. Jan. 7, 1657-8, Mehitabel Bartlett. He m. (2d), Sept. 12, 1691, Susanna, wid. of Gregory Cook. His will, dated June 29, 1695, mentions wife Susanna, sons Henry and Thomas; drs. Elizabeth Mellings (Mellen); Mehitabel and Abigail. Inventory dated Nov. 25, 1697, £317. 7. As early as 1680, he was elected the town "prizer," and continued to hold the office until 1695. The duty of apprizer appears to have been to fix the rate at which agricultural products shall pass in the payment of taxes and debts. He was often employed in taking inventories, and settling estates.
