April, 1665; will prob. 15th April, 1665; emigrated to America, 1660, and settled on his estate “Mattapony,?St. Mary’s Co., Md.; was commissioned, 20th August, 1661. by Lord Baltimore, Principal Secretary of Maryland, 1661-65, and Member of the Council until his death in April, 1665; m. Jane LOWE, dau. of Vincent Lowe and Ann CAVENDISH of Derby, Derbyshire, England; she later m. Charles, 3d Lord BALTIMORE. Henry Sewell of London, Engl, married Jane Lowe of Denby, England,dau. of Vincent Lower and Ann Cavendish. By her he had one son,Nicholas, and four daughters: 1. Elizabeth who married first Dr.Jesse Wharton and 2nd William Digges; 2. Mary; 3. Ann; 4. Jane, bornshortly after death of Henry her father. Mrs. Jane Sewellintermarried with Charles Calvert and Lord Baltimore and 4th LordProprietor; Henry Sewall was provincial Secretary from August 20, 1661to the time of his death, which happened April 1665.
