Died -- On Monday Feb. 17th at 5:30 a. m. Henry Horace Russell, age 64 years.
The deceased was born in London, England on March 2nd 1832 and was educated in the schools of that city. He came with his parents to America in 1849 and resided in Penn'a for a few years when the entire family moved to Minnesota where he was married on Sept. 5th, 1857 to Addie Curtis. Three children were born to them, one of whom died in infancy, the other two being Chas. E. Russell and Mrs. Ella Huggett of this county. Mr. Russell enlisted in the army and served throughout the rebellion. In the army he contracted disease of the stomach, which with its results ultimately caused his death. He removed from Olmstead Co., Minn. to Douglass Co., Wis in 1866 and thence to Day Co. S. D. in 1882 and settled in Raritan township where he resided at the time of his death. Although a great sufferer, his end was peaceful. The funeral service were held at the A.O.U.W. Hall on Wednesday under the auspices of the Gen. Crocker Post, G. A. R. Chaplain Warner delivering the funeral oration. A detail of Co. K S. D. N. G. escorted the remains to the cemetery and fired a volley over his resting place.
The deceased was a man of great force of character, brilliant attainments and decided views. Ill heath and infirmities deterred him greatly from taking that place in the world which his abilities warranted. His death is a decided loss to our community and his name is enrolled among that long list of martyrs who suffered that their country might [torn]

Mr. H. H. Russell, whose death occurred on the 17th at Webster, S.D., was born in England 66 years ago. He served in Company H, Sixth Minnesota Volunteer Infantry. He settled in Hudson township in the spring of 1866, locating a homestead on what is now the Meade farm, moving to South Dakota in 1882. He was a great sufferer from rheumatism and the old army complaint, having lost his teeth by salivation and scurvy during the service. His old friends in this county will learn of his death with great regret. He was a brother of Mr. F. H. Russell.
