RICH, RARE AND RACY. A Lawsuit and What Came of it--. West End Woman Drummed Out of Town.
As most people know things have not been going very smoothly between Ed. Loughner and wife, of West End for some time. Ed. charged his wife with unfaithfuluess and for some time they have not been living together.
On Tuesday Mrs. Loughner, accompanied by Edward Whitehead, a man named Buzzard and Constable Frick, of Irwin, entered the Loughner home and removed the household goods to the outside preparatory to loading them on wagons and hauling them away. When the goods were in the yard Loughner, citizens and police officers arrived, the latter preventing the party from removing the goods until some action had been taken.
Mr. Loughner appeared before Squire Bethune and had warrents sworn out for Mrs. Loughner, Constable Frick, Whitehead and Buzzard, charging them with larceny. The warrants were placed in the hands of Constable Frick, who arrested them, each giving bail in the sum of $500 for their appearance at a hearing to be held on Saturday. The goods still remain in the possession of Loughner.
When Mrs. Loughner was about to leave town the women of the West End gathered to the number of fifty. Each woman had a tin pan and lots of determination. They surrounded Mrs Loughner and drummed, hammered and yelled as only indignant women can. There is no good reason to doubt that Mrs. Loughner would have fought if the odds had not been so fearfully against her as she demonstrated her pugilistic abilities by slugging her husband earlier in the day. As it was her eyes flashed fire but she said nothing as she hurriedly left the place.
Nearly everybody in West End witnessed the disgraceful affair.
