Henry S. Jenkins was born about 1815 in Indiana. He married 1st to Rachael Whorton on 29 August 1841 in Shelby county, Indiana. At a minimum, Henry's first two children were with Rachel. They are found on a reasonably prosperous farm (worth $2,000) in Brandwine township, Shelby county in 1850. Three more children are born and Rachael dies and Henry married 2nd to Mary A. Stiles, on 25 Jan 1857 in Hendricks county, Indiana. In mid 1860 Henry and Mary are found again in Brandywine township, Shelby county (this time farm is worth $1,500) with his 5 children, and Mary is pregnant with Amanda who was born later that year. This is so far the last known trace of Henry. In subsequent censuses, his children are scattered and Mary is only found one more time, in 1870.
