Helen E. Metzger, 83, of Pleasant Plains died at 11:30 a.m. Friday at her daughter's residence.
She was born Oct. 29, 1906, in Springfield, the daughter of Clyde and Minnie Hagele Ralph. She married Frank E. Metzger in 1926, and he preceded her in death in 1980. Also preceding her in death were one son, Frank E. Metzger Jr., in 1967; and three brothers, George, Charles and Elmer Ralph. Mrs. Metzger was a clerk for the secretary of state's office for 20 years, retiring in 1971. A resident of Pleasant Plains for 35 years, Mrs. Metzger was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Calvin (Helen) Wilkins, Mrs. Hal (Lauretta) Hildebrand and Mrs. William (Wilma) Siebert, all of Springfield; 16 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Floyd (Marie) Buckley of Cass Lake, Minn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Mass at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, with the Rev. John Renken officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery.
