Helen Louise Hill Pickens (1922 - 20130
Services for Helen Louise Hill Pickens, age 90, will be Saturday, January, 12, 2013 at 1 p.m., at the Chapel of Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home in Jackson, TN wIth Bro. Johnny Williams officiating. Burial will be at Gibson County Memory Gardens in Gibson, TN. Visitation will be Friday evening, January 11, 2013 from 5 till 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mrs. Pickens passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson, TN.
Mrs Pickens was born February 15, 1922 in Wabash County, IL. Mrs. Pickens was raised in northern Illinois and Indiana. She lived her younger adult years in Jackson, TN then moved to Miami, FL in 1967, and returned to Jackson in 1980 after her retirement.
Mrs. Pickens was the daughter of the late Horace Dooley and India Agnes Watterson Dooley. She was preceded in death by five brothers, two sisters; three children, Evelyn Skinner, Johnny Hill and Janie Williams, and one step-son, Eddie Pickens. Mrs. Pickens was also preceded in death by her husband, Milburn Pickens in 1984.
Mrs. Pickens is survived by one sister, Barbara Jean Kemp of California; three sons, Bob Hill, Sr. (Marilyn) of Jackson, TN, Kenneth Hill (Mary) of Tulsa, OK, Dan Pickens (Jacqui) of San Antonio, TX; and one step-daughter, Linda Young of Florida. She leaves eight grandchildren, Bob Hill, Jr. (Wanda) of Beech Bluff, TN, Selina Giles (Wes) and Cecelia Besinger of Jackson, TN, Rhonda Besinger of Alamo, TN, Krisha Hill of Broken Arrow, OK, Chad Pickens of San Antonio, TX, Ryan Pickens (Annie) of Henderson, TN and Chelsey Pickens of Clemmons, NC; eleven great-grandchildren and twenty great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Pickens was a devoted Christian, and had been since a young age. She attended Peoples Chapel Church in Jackson, TN. She always enjoyed studying her Bible.
Pallbearers will be Johnathan Robinson, Edward Robinson, Chad Pickens, Ryan Pickens, Bruce Smith and Tom Shortess. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Hill, Jr., Cody Hill, Ron Lumsden and Shane Ross.
