Harry and his brother Albert were the oldest sons in a family of at least 9 children. Harry was 10 when this picture was taken. His paternal grandfather and maternal grandparents were born in Holland, and his mother was born in Germany (maybe, see grandparents). His father was a laborer in 1900 and a fireman in 1910.

The Stump family lived on a farm on 134th Street near the Calumet River in 1900 (see map, the location is approximate), near fellow students Lambert Schoon and Ruby and Charles Hastings.

Harry and Albert were cousins of Amanda De Vries, as their father Frank Stomp was the brother of Wilhemine (Minnie) Stump who married Crine De Vries (speculative, but matched by dates etc.), Amanda's parents.

Harry married Ethel (maiden name unknown) about 1916 and they had two children, including Harry Stomp Jr. who may have served in WWII (see notes for him). Both Harry and Ethel appear to have lived in Cook County their entire lives, although I haven't found a death date for Harry.
