Harriet was an exceptional cook. She always had a cake on a glass cake pedestal in readiness for unexpected visitors. Though only having about 6 months formal schooling, Harriet developed artistic legible handwriting. She learned to read & was known to read novels but it was not her favorite occupation. Her preferred leisure activity was doing intricate crotchet work.
