He was a Mennonite minister at Coventry Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania in 1725. He is probably the Mennonite Jacob Bechtel who lived at Schaarhof near Mannheim, Germany in 1717. He went to Pennsylvania before 1720, most probably in 1717. ... He was married to Elisabeth [citing Gary and Ruth Bechtel, "Bechtel Family", p. 3, 1981].'
