Obituary

Hamlin Platt was born in Polkton township on a farm one mile south and one-half mile west of the village of Coopersville on April 19, 1858. He made his home on the farm until the latter part of the year 1919. On October 27, 1918, he was married to Hattie Elbers. He then moved into his new home located one-half mile south of Coopersville. Here he departed from this life, on the afternoon of January 13, 1916, aged 56 years, 8 months and 25 days.
In the spring of 1915 he was nominated as supervisor of Polkton township, serving his constituents faith; fully. He was taken sick a short time before the meeting of the January session of the Board of Supervisors, and before they adjourned they tendered him a fine offering of flowers to cheer him. The flowers were delivered by Supervisor Edgar A. Hambleton, with a message of good cheer to him from the board.
Besides a large circle of friends deceased leaves to mourn their loss his wife, one sister, Mrs. E.D. Reynolds, of LaGrand, Ore., and three brothers, Milton of this place, Bento, of Kalamazoo, and Wright, of Wells, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held in the Reformed Church, Rev. A. DeYoung officiating.
