Obituary - SEVERITE, Sept. 3, 1964, Severy, KS
Guy Elmer Holmes, son of Elmer and Elizabeth Holmes, was born Aug. 6, 1898 at Stillwater, Oklahoma. He passed away at Greenwood County Hospital Aug. 30, 1964 at the age of 66 years. When but a child he moved with his parents to a farm one mile south of Severy where he attended the Severy Schools.
In 1922, he was united in marriage to Alma Henderson. To this union one daughter was born. He was a kind father and loved by all who knew him.
He was retired from Beech Air Craft where he was employed for ten years.
He was affiliated with the Masonic Lodge and later became a member of the Eastern Star. He was also a member of the Congregational Church of Severy.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Alma, of the home; and daughter, Colleen, and her husband Merle Walter; two grandchildren Hal Eugene and Lea Walter; three sisters, Stella Mitchell, Lulu Zink and Velma Songer; two brothers, Frank and Earl and many friends. Funeral services are being held Thursday Sept. 3, 1964 from the Severy Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Albert Eubanks of Severy Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in South Cemetery, Severy, with Masonic services.
Forsberg Funeral Home of Severy was in charge of the services.
