Marriage record says he was born in Vergennes, VT. In Deerfield, MA at 1870 census with $2000 in real estate and 300 in personal estate. Living in Winchester, NH at 1880, 1900 & 1910 Census. 1889, 1893, 1899 & 1901 Keene directories show him as the owner of G. Wardwell & Co, living in Winchester. 1907 Keene Directory lists him as a dealer of paints and painters' supplies, wall paper and room mouldings at 26 Main Street, residing in Winchester. 1908 Winchester Directory shows him living at 24 Parker. 1913 Directory shows him also dealing in graphophones. Listed in Gazetteer of Cheshire County, N.H., 1736-1885, as a dealer in artistic wall paper and borders, window shades of any style or size, also a traveling agent for Warren, Fuller & Lange of New York. "Granville Wardwell, while ill recently, was obliged to cancel several lecture engagements, much to the regret of his would-be audience. Mr. Wardwell is gaining ground as a lecturer, and is frequently called away from town to give his lecture on "Quebec and the wonders of the Saguenay." -New Hampshire Sentinel 05 February 1890 "Granville Wardwell and family, sojourning at Forest Lake, were visited on Sunday last by their son Ned, from Hartford." -New Hampshire Sentinel 26 August 1891 "Granville Wardwell has the contract for completing the Roman Catholic Church at Marlboro." -New Hampshire Sentinel 21 October 1891 References
