Will Book 1-Page 27 Will of Godfrey Daniel Stout, Sen. State of Tennessee, Johnson County Know all men by these present, that I, Godfrey Daniel Stout, Sen., being of sound mind and memory do make this my last will and testament, to wit: Unto my beloved son, George Peter Stout, I give and bequeath one dollar and unto my beloved son, Daniel Stout, I give and bequeath one dollar and to my beloved son, Henry Stout, I give and bequeath one dollar and unto my beloved son, Abram Stout, one dollar and unto my beloved son, David D. Stout, one dollar and unto my son, Thomas Stout's Heirs, one dollar and unto my beloved son-in-law, John Potter, one dollar, and unto my beloved son-in-law, Nicholas Grindstaff, one dollar, and unto my beloved son-in-law, Joseph Robinson, one dollar; unto my beloved daughter, Catherine Stout, one dollar. John Stout, Executor of Godfrey Daniel Stout, Deceased State of Tennessee Johnson County County Court, April term 1846 Whereas, it appears to the Court here, that Godfrey Daniel Stout, late of said County, is dead and hath made his will and testment in writing in which he has appointed John Stout his executor to the same, which will hath been exhibited into Court and proved as the law directs. It is therefore ordered by the Court that letters, tesamentary of all and singular, the goods and chattels, rights and credits of said deceased issue to the said John Stout, he having been qualified according to law. These are therefore to empower you, the said John Stout, to enter into and upon all the singular the goods and chattels, righ and credits of the said Godfrey Daniel Stout deceased and the same into your possession, taken wherever the same may be found and a true and perfect inventory to make and return in our next term of County Court and the just debts of the said Godfrey Daniel Stout deceased to pay and also try pay and deliver all the legacies contained and specified in said will and testament, as far as the said goods, chattels and rights and credits will thereto extend and the law charges. Witness whereof I, Alfred T. Wilson, Clerk of our said Court, do hereunto sugbscribe y name and affix the seal of my office in the Town of Taylorsville, the 6th day of April A.D., 1846.

Godfrey Daniel Stout (or Captain Daniel Stout, Revolutionary War, Pennsylvania) (Tradition says that he was 96 at the time of his deat, 1846; still another tradition that he was older). Catherina Boltzen Stout was born March 21, 1755, in Shenandoah County, Virginia. Records show that the above parties were married March 3, 1772. Children of this marriage: George Peter Stout, born _________, wife, Elizabeth Potter. Daniel Stout, born August 9, 1781, wife ______________ John Stout, born December 16, 1783; wife, Sallie Grindstaff Henry Stout, born May 25, 179_; first wife, _____________ Abraham Carter Stout, born July 23, 1791; wife _____________ David D. Stout, born November 11, 1790; wife, Elizabeth Howard; second wife, Anne Martin. Thomas Stout, born October 2, ; wife,_______________ Mollie Stout born _______; husband, John Potter II Mary Stout, born, ___________; husband, Nicholas Grindstaff. Mary Stout, born July 8, 1787; husband Joseph Robinson Catherine Stout, born______________ (One tradition says that she died unmarried; another says she was married. The Bible Record of Daniel Stout's family is written in English.) Note: Some of the records are too dim to be deciphered; this accounts for the mahny blanks; too dim to be read with a magnifying glass. Captain Daniel or Godfrey Daniel Stout of the Revolutionary War was, according to family tradition, of German descent and came from Pennsylvania through the Shenanadah Valley to Sulivan County, Tennessee, andsettled on the left bank of the Holston River near the mouth of Jacobs Creek; spring on right band (a Mr. Dogget lives at the same place now). The house was still standing up a few years ago. (date of writing, 1933). On the Register's Books in Carter County deede are executed by Godfrey Daniel or Daniel Stout, conveying land to his sons and sons-in-law. He and his wife, Atherina, are buried in a country cemetery in a community known as "Little Doe." The cmetery is now called the Asa Shoun Cemetery.
